Art and Value
Art and Value was an artist research residency and exhibition with Bethlem Gallery.
In a world where various clinical methods are used to measure illness, wellness and ‘recovery’, art offers a personal perspective on what deserves to be counted and why. The project posed the questions:
What do we measure and why?
What does art help us to value?
To answer these questions I worked with Anna, a researcher from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London.

Workshop: Written language, vs. Visual Grammar
Alongside the exhibition I ran a collage / mixed media workshop where participants decoinstructed, reimagined and reconstructed visual data in order to change its intended meaning and values.
This workshop posed the question “In today’s world of visual stimulation and sensory overload, how do we decipher what information might be of value to us?

Conference: Biomedical Research Centre
Around 300 delegates including researchers, clinicians, service users and members of the local communities gathered for the conference at The Royal College of Physicians in 2019. I was invited to showcase my work from the Art and Value Project and talk to attendees about the project.
Article: The British Medical Journal
I was interviewed about the project for a full page spread in the British Medical Journal.
